(TheWeatherSpace.com) -- A moderate to large Earthquake has struck Japan's largest volcano, Fujiyama.

The Earthquake hit just after 10:30 p.m. local time on Tuesday night. It was six miles below the surface. Mount Fuji's summit is over two and a half miles high, making the quake in reality only three and a half miles below the surface.

The distance from the Earthquake to the volcano was four miles, with the quake happening on the south side of the summit.

No further information has been gathered. Officials in Japan are likely monitoring Mt. Fuji for further quakes as this is a live volcano.
