(TheWeatherSpace.com) - TWS Senior Meteorologist Kevin Martin is putting his credibility on the line in calling an usual storm system to hit parts of Southern California tonight through Friday and has upgraded the system confidence. TWS will continue to give this system the spotlight on the site as it is a rare and powerful event.
The Southern California Weather Authority's Major Pacific Storm Faith is now a category four on the one through five scale. Martin's statements are all over the site and it will be tough to get them all on here so visit Southern California Weather Authority for the latest updates.
"This is about go time, a nervous time in my career I'll say," said Martin. "However my clients are betting amongst themselves that the storm will or will not hit. Clients across Southern California are well informed about the system and have been since the weekend. One side of the Southern California area will be dry with damaging winds, the other side with thunder, pounding mountain snow, blizzards, and rainfall."
Martin has a map, viewed above. The map displays most of Los Angeles and Ventura County seeing the dry weather with damaging winds and areas east seeing the combination of winds and thunder.
TWS' Southern California Weather Authority has issued a Severe Weather Statement for areas south and east of Los Angeles County effective now. The alert is for a pending Severe Thunderstorm Watch as high winds and thunderstorms come in on Thursday morning through Friday.
In addition to this, Martin issued a Winter Storm Watch for the high desert and mountain locations of Southern California. Keep in mind, NOAA is not on board with this storm, calling for a drier event.
SCWXA has also upgraded the Santa Ana Wind Watch issued a couple days ago to a full Santa Ana Wind Warning. Wind gusts, according to TWS SCWXA wording, will be over 60 mph in the valleys with 80 mph gusts possible and even a mention of 100 mph gusts in the pass locations. This is a dangerous situation.
"These gusts in the offshore water zones will capsize any sailboat caught in the Santa Ana Wind Tunnel," said Martin.
