(TheWeatherSpace.com) - A comet going into the Sun is not too uncommon and NASA's SOHO Spacecraft usually sees a brighter one each couple of weeks. NASA's Spacecraft watches the Sun 24/7.

On September 30th, 'amateur' astronomers discovered a comet plunging into the Sun. A CME, or Coronal Mass Ejection burst from the Sun on impact.

Now CMEs are very interesting due to the fact they happen with increased magnetic field activity around sunspots, however they also seem to happen when a large comet is near the Sun.

Whether a comet is magnetic or not is unknown at the time and I'm sure NASA will do studies on the process in the future, however avid skywatchers are always noticing the CME and comet relation.
