Numerous thunderstorms formed across the Central Valley, within one of our Severe Thunderstorm Watch boxes.
TheWeatherSpace.com Senior Meteorologist Kevin Martin issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for the California San Joaquin Valley at around 10:00 a.m. on Sunday morning.
During the afternoon and evening, large hail was reported, verifying the watch product need.
“This storm system was potent,” said Martin. The storm system dropped mainly 0.25″ hail, but reports down toward Fresno took on 1.00″ in diameter hailstones. This was the reason for the issued watch.”
Isolated thunderstorms are possible tomorrow in these areas, including Northern California. However Martin says it will not be as severe as today’s TWS Severe Thunderstorm Watch event.
